Postsecondary Options Policy in Jeffco Advance approval must be sought from the school principal for the receipt of high school credit. Such approval shall not be given for courses which do not meet or exceed the district's graduation requirements. Students who have satisfied district graduation requirements prior to enrollment in a postsecondary course may not receive high school credit for such course work. igh School students whose academic needs have surpassed their school's curriculum may participate in college courses while still attending high school. In appropriate circumstances, course credit toward the fulfillment of high school graduation requirements shall be awarded for successful completion of approved courses offered by institutions of higher education.
To be eligible, the student must first contact his/her school counselor to ensure that the intended college classes are beyond the curriculum offered at the high school and are appropriate for the student.
Requirements:
* Student is in the eleventh or twelfth grade, is under the age of 21 and is a full time student at a Jeffco High School.
* Student has surpassed the current high school offerings in a content area and desires to take the next level through concurrent enrollment at a college.
* If approved by the principal, dual enrollment allows student to simultaneously receive high school credit and college credit while attending high school.
* Student must meet with their counselor at least 60 days prior to the anticipated enrollment.
* Tuition is reimbursed for up to two courses per semester after successful completion of the college coursework, unless dual enrollment w/o reimbursement is pursued
